Letters For Palestine
Call on getting Julie Webb-Pullman into Gaza
Background
- Julie Webb-Pullman is a New Zealand Muslim woman who has been living in Gaza and documenting War Crimes for a number of years.
- Julie is a forensic investigator who works with a small team carrying out that documentation.
- Over the last few months, Julie has been in New Zealand and carried out an 11 center tour giving 18 talks on War Crimes in Gaza and carrying out a fund raiser to hire two additional War Crimes documenting people.
- On the 4th of December, Julie left New Zealand heading back to Gaza.
- Julie was refused entry by Egypt (even though she has an apartment, utilities bills and a job inside Gaza) because Egypt says they do not recognise her Gaza residency/ID card - despite the fact that they have granted Julie entry several times since 2011 on the basis of that card, including in 2018, and despite the fact that the Gaza authorities approve her entry.
- Julie believes, and her employers believe, that her presence in Gaza is essential to the continued preparation of war crimes complaints to the International Criminal Court.
- The NZ Embassy in Cairo informed Julie that as they have a travel advisory against Gaza so they Refuse to support an application from her to return to her home there at this time.
- This makes no sense as Julie is Not a casual visitor to Gaza. She is returning to her home.
- We are asking people to contact the Minister of Foreign Affairs , Winston Peters, to ask him to support Julies return to Gaza. Text follows.
